Cantacorbs Tower – Gate of Morella (14th century)
It is a preserved trace of one of the eight gates and one of the towers of the walled enclosure in Sant Mateu, located in Maestrat Street.
The Montesian town walls which surrounded Sant Mateu were of masonry and had a variable thickness and a height of 6 metres, including the battlements. Its perimeter was about 1,600 m.

Nowadays, some remains of the eight gates and defensive towers still survive. These gates were: Xert Gate, Barcelona Gate (the only one to preserve its entrance voussoired arch until 1918), Boveral Gate, Vedella Gate, Santo Domingo Gate, Morella Gate, Cantacorbs Tower, Albocasser Gate and Valencia Gate.
