Festivity of Sant Mateu
Festivity of Sant Mateu is on 21th September and marks the culmination of the town’s festive cycle. Until 1961, the main festivities took place in at that time but we switch them to the end of August for practical needs. The festiviy of Sant Mateu has a strong and required by protocol nature with the High Mass and the procession in honour of the main patron but it has also its festive part with all the weekend dedicated to the bous al carrer (bulls running around the streets), open-air dances, etc. The people also dance the ball pla (a traditional dance) but without the solemn ceremony of the 20th August given that they dance without the typical clothing and it is only a performance.
